stoned with edward norton

go and watch STONE immediately.
oh wait, you can't yet,
unless you buy bootleg DVDs from the flea market.
go watch it as soon as possible, then.
it's really amazing.

what's also amazing is that i got to sit 10 feet
from the very talented and very tired-looking edward norton.
he plays the enlightened convict stone in the film
and is married to the femme fatale milla jovovich,
who screws almost every male character in the movie.
an outstanding performance!

aimee invited me to this early showing and chat with the star,
as part of her AFI membership and benefits package.
also because she's a great friend.
we ate licorice during the milla sex scenes :)

legos & lomography

went to a lego exhibit at the national building museum
with the visiting family and to explore the city further.
tons of kids, some expected drama, and chicken fingers.
anyway, aimee lent me her lomograph, which is
basically a shitty camera that takes 8 photos in 2.5 seconds.
pretty interesting results, huh?

here's one of the 6 or so lego buildings this one guy made.
normally it costs $5 just to get into this junk,
but my dad threw a fit and managed to get us in for free!
good old fashioned american-style customer is always right
told by a disgruntled, short-tempered austrian man.
my mom thought they'd call the police! (as usual)

how in the world this image was created is beyond me.
all i know is CVS took forever to process this film,
and maybe they threw some extra red dye in with the roll.

also i think it's safe to say that
lomography is not the most precise type of photography.
these short clips are better done with my flip video.
truth be told lomography is a one time only thing for me!

girl, whatchu think?

here are some obligatory photos of
black women staring at interesting art displays.
check out the (free) national museum of african art,
where circumcisions and head shavings stand side by side.

did i forget new york?

i suppose it's after the fact,
but i spent some days and my birthday
living it up / sobbing in new york city.
this is like 2.5 weeks ago maybe,
but since coming back it's felt like months.

the equivalent of a döner does not measure up in nyc.
overpriced, sloppy, iceberg lettuce-filled and tough,
the kebab experience made me weep shortly thereafter.

interesting people do exist in america,
and their morbid obesity is not the only drawing quality.
they sometimes dress like garbage bags while carrying
garbage bags and collecting (you guessed it) garbage.

anna, fouad, jordan, chris and rochelle oh and i all went to the museum,
saw some interesting art and felt jet-lagged oh wait that was just anna and i.
fouad and i were dressed in suits and stuffed full of free desserts at the time.

the photos makes me nostalgic.
trip to california in september :)

lieblingsfotos: anna

anna is visiting until the end of my time in berlin.
this involves dancing to electro music as often as possible,
drunkenly babbling in bed before sleeping at 6:30 am,
drinking excessive amounts of coffee and enjoying the remaining time.
it's nice to have her here!

brühl outing, short and stylish hair, also drinking coffee...

falafel eating, ridiculous conversations, wide-eyed excitement...

art exhibits, curiosities, more coffee...

and an openness to posing for bizarre photos!
enjoy sleeping in a tent :)

ginger tea, coffee with honey, sweet chili sauce

it's been fun times with candice lately.
she's introduced me to a lot of amazing food combos
and interesting things in general.
we went to the Inauguración Expo Umsetzen at the Freies Museum,
and it was a pretty mixed media / crowd with overpriced drinks.
ate some turkish food and drank red wine per usual.

some couple invited me to their house,
and i wasn't sure what their intentions were,
but they live right by where i work,
so who knows when i'll run into them next.

6 paintings turned out to be 6 line sketches on paper
plus some other works i can't remember.
what is it with student art that's so forgettable?

7 weeks DE + NYC days + SF visits -> good times!

20 Jahre Mauerfall

the 20th anniversary of the fall of the wall was pretty epic.
epically rainy and cold that is.
i got to see bon jovi play and stand around in a sea of people,
many wielding large umbrellas.
for the celebration they knocked down a wall of dominoes
that had been painted by local students.
the students were dressed in silver space jackets for some reason.
i also peed in the jewish memorial without realizing what it was.
i just really had to go!
it took me until today to recover,
but it was well worth the wait!

many clips of the event follow:
